MFDC Celebrates Collaboration and Growth in Mauritius’ Film Industry

Last week, the Mauritius Film Development Corporation (MFDC) hosted two key events celebrating collaboration and growth in the local film industry.
We visited the Ministry of Arts and Culture with The Honourable Mahendra Gondeea, Minister of Arts and Culture, alongside Mr. Prashanth Patali, Sony MEA Delegates and the CEO Mr. Kevin Gutty and Chairman Mr. Arvind Mattadeen from the MFDC.
An exclusive networking evening for Sony Ambassador Alister Chapman(UK) brought together, Dr. The Honourable Kaviraj Sharma Sukon (Minister of Tertiary Education, Science and Research), Mr. Veemal Gungadin (CEO Mauritius Telecom), Mr. Ashveen Khemraz (Advisor on Cultural Matters, Ministry of Arts and Culture).
The discussions during this networking event strengthened the Sony–MFDC partnership, opened avenues for collaboration with the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science and Research and explored potential projects with Mauritius Telecom, enhancing opportunities for innovative initiatives in filmmaking and technology.
These discussions further reinforced the Ministry’s unwavering support for the creative sector.
With three successful masterclass sessions completed in 2025, MFDC ends the year on a high, setting the bar for 2026, continuing to empower filmmakers and elevate Mauritian cinema.
